These Terms & Conditions apply to all reservations and stays at Villa Onu Mentawai. By confirming a reservation and making payment, guests acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to the following policies.
Reservations & Booking
Reservations are confirmed once the required deposit payment has been received and written confirmation has been issued by Villa Onu. Guests are required to provide accurate booking details, including:
- Full names of all guests
- Travel itinerary
- Special requests or dietary requirements
All reservations are subject to availability and confirmation by Villa Onu management.
Payment Policy
To secure a reservation:
- A 30% deposit is required at the time of booking.
- The remaining balance must be paid 45 days prior to arrival.
If the remaining balance is not received by the due date, Villa Onu reserves the right to cancel the reservation and retain the deposit. All bank transfer or payment processing fees are the responsibility of the guest.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the remote location and limited capacity of the villa, the following cancellation policy applies:
More than 60 days before arrival
A full refund will be issued, excluding any bank transfer or payment processing fees.
30–59 days before arrival
Payments may be transferred as credit toward a future stay within 12 months, subject to availability. The cancellation date will be calculated from the date the cancellation request is submitted.
Less than 30 days before arrival
Payments are non-refundable.
Early departures or unused nights during the stay are non-refundable.
Travel Documents
Guests are responsible for ensuring they possess all required travel documents before traveling to Indonesia and the Mentawai Islands.
This includes but is not limited to:
- A valid passport with at least six (6) months validity from the date of arrival
- Any required visa or entry permit according to Indonesian immigration regulations
- Compliance with customs, immigration, and health regulations
Villa Onu cannot be held responsible for denied boarding, refused entry, or travel disruptions resulting from incomplete or invalid travel documents.
Travel to Mentawai
Travel to the Mentawai Islands often involves multiple transportation providers including flights, ferries, and boat transfers. Villa Onu cannot be held responsible for disruptions caused by:
- airline delays or cancellations
- ferry schedule changes
- weather conditions
- government restrictions
- third-party transport providers
Guests are responsible for ensuring their travel arrangements align with their reservation dates.
Travel Insurance
Due to the remote nature of the Mentawai Islands, guests are strongly encouraged to obtain comprehensive travel insurance. Insurance coverage should ideally include:
- medical emergencies
- medical evacuation
- trip cancellations
- participation in ocean activities such as surfing
Villa Onu cannot be held responsible for medical costs, evacuation expenses, or travel disruptions.
Weather & Natural Conditions
Guests acknowledge that weather conditions in tropical island environments may vary and are outside the control of Villa Onu.
Conditions such as rain, wind, tides, and ocean swells may affect surf quality, boat access, or scheduled activities.
Villa Onu cannot guarantee specific weather conditions or wave quality during a guest’s stay and cannot offer refunds or compensation due to unfavorable weather or natural conditions.
Surf Conditions
Surf conditions depend on swell, wind, and tides and may vary daily. While Mentawai is known for world-class waves, wave quality cannot be guaranteed on specific days. Guests acknowledge that surfing conditions are determined by nature and are outside the control of Villa Onu.
Surfing & Ocean Activities
Surfing and other ocean activities in Mentawai take place in natural environments that may involve inherent risks including:
- coral reefs
- strong currents
- changing ocean conditions
Guests participate in all activities at their own discretion and are expected to follow all safety guidance provided by staff. Villa Onu and its staff cannot be held responsible for injuries sustained during these activities.
Surf Lessons
Surf lessons may be offered to beginner or intermediate guests when ocean conditions are suitable. Lessons may include:
- ocean awareness and safety
- surf etiquette
- paddling techniques
- pop-up and basic riding techniques
Guests participating in surf lessons must:
- be comfortable swimming
- follow all instructions from the instructor or guide
Lessons may be modified or cancelled if conditions are not suitable for safe learning.
Equipment Use
Guests using soft-top boards or other equipment provided by the villa must treat all equipment responsibly and follow staff instructions. Damage resulting from misuse, negligence, or loss of equipment may be charged to the guest. Normal wear and tear is excluded.
Guest Conduct
Guests are expected to respect the villa property, staff, and other guests. Villa Onu reserves the right to stop or limit activities if guest behavior creates safety risks. Guests who appear intoxicated may not be permitted to participate in ocean activities such as surfing or boating.
Property Damage
Guests are responsible for any damage caused to villa property, facilities, or equipment during their stay. This may include:
- room facilities and furniture
- recreational equipment
- boats and operational equipment
Repair or replacement costs may be charged accordingly.
Force Majeure
Villa Onu shall not be liable for failure or delay in fulfilling obligations due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- natural disasters
- extreme weather
- earthquakes or tsunamis
- pandemics
- government restrictions
- transportation disruptions
In such cases, Villa Onu will make reasonable efforts to assist guests with rescheduling bookings when possible.
Limitation of Liability
Villa Onu shall not be responsible for:
- personal injury or illness
- loss or damage to personal belongings
- accidents during activities
- disruptions caused by third-party services
Guests participate in all activities at their own risk.
